Juana Candelario, 59, and Daniel Gonzalez, 62, died when a fire tore through a Hancock Street home late Tuesday night.

The two people killed in a house fire in Worcester Tuesday were a local married couple, their family announced.

Juana Candelario, 59, and Daniel Gonzalez, 62, died when a fire tore through a Hancock Street home late Tuesday night. The couple, who lived on the first floor, were transported to a local hospital where they both died from their injuries.

Candelario and Gonzalez were married for 30 years and had been part of their community in Worcester since the early 2000s, their children and family members wrote on an online fundraiser.

Three adult children and multiple grandchildren of the couple lived in the home with the couple and were able to escape the fire. However, they “lost everything.”

“Our family has suffered a tremendous tragedy,” the family wrote. “They are survived by a loving family, including their children and grandchildren.”

The family has raised more than $13,000 as of Thursday evening, surpassing their $10,000 goal from more than 100 donors.
