GOLF
Walpole captured the South Sectional golf title Monday morning at Maplegate Country Club in Bellingham, holding off Barnstable by one stroke. Notre Dame (Hingham), Hingham and Duxbury rounded out the top five teams. Tori Adams finished third (79) for the Timberwolves, while teammates Gretchen Connelly and Juliet Massey tied for 14th.
Two-time All-Scholastic Mya Murphy of Sturgis West shot a three-over-par 75 to win the South Individual title. Jillian Johnson was the runner-up with a 77.
At the North/Central/West Sectional tournament, Westwood’s Lillian Guleserian shot a blistering six-under-64 to win the Individual title, one stroke ahead of North Reading star Isabel Brozena. Wellesley cruised to the team title, outdistancing Wachusett and Notre Dame (Worcester) easily.
BASEBALL
Will Trach doubled and scored the tying run in the sixth inning and drove home the winning run with a single in the seventh inning to give Shawsheen (18-3) a 2-1 win over Greater Lowell in the State Vocational Semifinal. Matt Flynn struck out six and allowed four hits and one run over six innings pitched, and Lukas Poirier pitched a scoreless seventh.

Ben Tondorf scored six goals while Todd Egan and Jaxon Hoey added another four goals each as South Shore Tech bested Smith Vocational, 19-4, in the State Vocational Semifinal.
