Several Dunwoody-area MARTA parking decks will be temporarily closed, according to an announcement by the transit authority.

The parking decks at Dunwoody and Medical Center Stations, which are on the red line, will be closed to “install new equipment that will make paying for parking more convenient.”

The Medical Center deck will be closed June 4 to June 28, while the Dunwoody Station deck will be closed from June 10 to July 3.

According to the announcement, the temporary closure is needed “to install new entry and exit gates, ticket dispensers, fee payment machines, license-plate recognition cameras, and other technology for running the system.”

The new payment kiosks will allow customers to pay with cash or card before going to their car and exiting the lot.

This project is part of an overall effort to upgrade the equipment at MARTA’s paid long-term parking facilities at 10 heavy rail stations.

“In the future, this system will be compatible with MARTA’s Automated Fare Collection 2.0 system, which means customers will be able to pay for parking with their fares through a single MARTA app,” the statement said.
