Robert Kawada was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.

A Brookline man is charged with deceiving a woman into taking medication to end her pregnancy, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Robert Kawada, 43, is charged with poisoning, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a pregnant person, and assault and battery on a household or family member in connection with allegedly misleading a woman, who was known to him, into taking medication to end her pregnancy.

A preliminary investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Offices suggests that Kawada and the woman had been dating when she became pregnant. Kawada allegedly secretly gave the woman medication under the guise that he was giving her iron pills and vitamins. The pills included Misoprostol, a drug used to end pregnancies, authorities said.

The woman suffered a miscarriage following the incident.

Watertown police arrested Kawada on Friday. He was set to be arraigned in Waltham District Court on Tuesday.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Watertown police are still investigating the incident.
