Bills dealing with additional alcohol licenses in Boston (H 3741), direct wine shipper licenses (H 4130), and a model carrier reporting requirement (H 4478) are being advanced out of a key committee ahead of Thursday’s House session.
The House Ways and Means Committee gave its members until 10:45 a.m. to vote on those bills, as well legislation dealing with non-public school service purchases (H 3977), and land conveyances in Lowell (H 4117) and Lancaster (H 4300).
The committee is advancing amended versions of each of the bills. The House meets at 11 a.m. in an informal session.
Boston is poised to gain 205 liquor licenses under the redrafted legislation released by top House Democrats on Thursday, with the majority targeted for low-income, marginalized communities around the city.
The bill (H 3741) steers 180 non-transferable licenses over a three-year period to 12 ZIP codes situated in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, East Boston, Roslindale, West Roxbury, Hyde Park, Charlestown and Jamaica Plain, according to a spokesman for the House Ways and Means Committee. The licenses must be awarded to establishments that prepare food on-site.
Three non-transferable licenses are earmarked for Oak Square in Brighton, with another 15 non-transferable licenses designated for non-profits or community spaces. The bill also carves out seven transferable licenses that do not have location restrictions.
