In the week leading up to the NBA Finals, much has been made of the fact that the matchup features Grant Williams’ two former teams.

Williams played for the Celtics from 2019-2023 and the Mavericks for most of this year. Now, he’s a member of the Charlotte Hornets, and he has to watch (or not watch) as his two previous squads go head to head.

While the situation certainly puts Williams in an unfortunate spot, he doesn’t appear to be too torn up – at least publicly.

Williams commented on an Instagram post, writing: “No two teams more deserving. Blessed to have been apart of both,” with a handshake emoji.

He then shared a video of himself dunking on a kid at Junior NBA Indonesia Week and wrote: “Super Sad” with halo and crying/laughing emojis.

Williams is spending time in Indonesia working with young kids through NBA Cares and spreading his love for the game.

In May, Williams predicted that if it ended up Celtics-Nuggets, the Nuggets would win in six or seven. If it ended up Celtics-Mavericks, the Celtics would win in six games.
