Brayan Bello looks to pitch Sox to series win

The Red Sox have a chance to take three out of four from the Detroit Tigers, and their Opening Day starter will be on the mound Sunday to try and clinch the series win.

Brayan Bello will take the mound for Sunday’s series finale, taking on Tigers right-hander Casey Mize. Bello enters the day with a 6-2 record and 4.18 ERA, and since coming off the IL on May 12 the Red Sox have won three of his four starts.

He’ll lead a somewhat reshuffled Red Sox, who placed two players on the injured list earlier in the day while bringing up infielders Bobby Dalbec and Jamie Westbrook from Triple-A. Neither of them are in the starting lineup, though manager Alex Cora indicated that Westbrook can play “everywhere” and could potentially make his MLB debut off the bench today.

With Vaughn Grissom on the shelf the Red Sox will start Enmanuel Valdez, who hit two home runs on Saturday, at second base. David Hamilton will continue to start at shortstop and Ceddanne Rafaela will start at center field with Jarren Duran in left and Wilyer Abreu in right.

Sunday is also Lou Gehrig Day around baseball, and all players will wear a No. 4 patch in honor of the New York Yankees legend, who died of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in 1941.
