Halli Thorleifsson responded that the answer would lead to a “breach of confidentiality” and asked if Musk’s lawyers could grant permission in writing so he could publicly discuss his work.

Shortly after, the SpaceX founder himself gave the nod. Halli Thorleifsson then shared that he “led an effort to save approximately $500k on a SaaS contract,” “led the prioritization of design projects to ensure that the company was able to deliver with a smaller team,” and “led design crits to help level up design across the company.”
He added that he was also the “recruiting manager for all design roles” and worked on efforts to “shift the company away from focusing on power users and on youth users”, among other things.

When Elon Musk asked Halli Thorleifson to elaborate on her SaaS contract and design projects, the latter replied that it was a “Figma” contract and that she worked on “all active design projects”.

Halli Thorleifson then clarified that her original query was about her employment status at Twitter, which initially went unanswered by both Elon Musk and HR.
However, he said that HR responded “simply miraculously”, so he finally received confirmation that he is no longer employed by Twitter.
But the original question was if I was still employed or not since you or your head of HR haven’t been able to answer that yet.

Elon Musk later wrote that Thorleifsson “didn’t do any real work” at the company and claimed that he used muscular dystrophy as an excuse.
The reality is that this guy (who is independently wealthy) did no actual work, claimed as his excuse that he had a disability that prevented him from typing, yet was simultaneously tweeting up a storm. Can’t say I have a lot of respect for that.
