USA: Passengers stranded at Dallas airport amid delays and cancellations as storms disrupt flights across country

Passengers at Dallas Love Field international airport still faced travel disruption as many flights were delayed and cancelled, on Friday.

Footage shows passengers at the airport queuing, waiting in different sectors, sitting next to their luggage, and checking their flight tickets. Flight boards could also be seen showing information and new times of postponed or cancelled flights.

Thousands of flights were reportedly cancelled in the US during the Christmas holiday due to the severe storm. According to Southwest Airlines, the company allegedly promised to reimburse passengers for expenses including hotels, car rentals and so forth. Earlier in the past week, the carrier reportedly cancelled around 16, 000 flights. The US government has called the airline’s meltdown a system failure and called for taking steps in this respect.

According to the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA), a total of around 16,500 flights were cancelled by Southwest from December 22-29.
