US President Joe Biden meets with Guterres after making last UNGA speech as president

United Nations, : US President Joe Biden met United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres after making his last UNGA speech as president on September 24.

US President Joe Biden addressed world leaders at the United Nations for the final time on September 24, declaring that Russia’s war in Ukraine has failed and that a diplomatic solution between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah was still possible.

Biden said progress toward peace in the Middle East would put the world in a stronger position to do “with the ongoing threat posed by Iran.”

Earlier Tuesday United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres denounced a growing number of governments and other groups who feel they are “entitled to a get out of jail free card,” citing wars in Ukraine, the Gaza Strip and Sudan. After their remarks, Biden and Guterres met inside the U.N. headquarters.
