A man who sparked a major search across Melbourne’s northern suburbs after a man was killed and woman seriously injured has been arrested by police at a busy intersection.
Shaun Sanderson, 32, was arrested without incident about 2.40pm today after the suspected double stabbing at a home in Reservoir this morning.
A 29-year-old man died after being treated by paramedics after police received reports of an attack with an “edged weapon” about 8.20am.
Heavily armed police officers swarmed the street while a 65-year-old woman was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious upper body injuries.
Victoria Police believe Sanderson was earlier inside the house and left before police arrived.
He was barefoot when he was taken into custody on Murray Street in Preston this afternoon.
Neighbour 82-year-old Pam Egan described the family who lived in the house as “always friendly”.
“They’re lovely beautiful family hard workers,” Egan said.
