Thousands of runners on Sunday took part in the 4th Commissioner’s Karachi Marathon at Nishan-e-Pakistan Seaview to promote peace and sports in the city.
“My legs are paining but I will try my level best to win,” said participant Sana. “This kind of activity should be arranged every month, or every week on Sundays”.
Footage shows a starting line set up along a street where runners and physically disadvantaged persons in wheelchairs lined up to start moving at a command. Athletes of different age groups were also seen.
“A large number of people have gathered here. The turnout is quite big as compared to the last three years,” said participant Imtiyaz Khan.
The marathon was available in two categories, either twelve kilometres or seven and a half kilometres, while first place in each category was awarded 50,000 rupees (183.50 euros), second place 30,000 rupees and third place 20,000 rupees (73.40 euros).
