It’s ‘chilling’ to think about the number of terrorists who are crossing into the U.S. through the southern border due to President Biden’s policies, the top Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee tells DailyMail.com following a recent arrest of an Afghan national on the FBI’s watchlist.
The blistering statement from Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn., comes after an Afghan national on the FBI’s terror watchlist was captured trying to sneak into the U.S. at the southern border near San Diego, California.
Border Patrol agents discovered the Afghan national via a fingerprint scan that connected him to a terrorist screening database.
The terrorist’s arrest came the day before the Biden administration allowed Title 42 to end – a pandemic-era rule that allowed for the quick expulsion of illegal migrants from the country.

Border agents apprehended over 10,000 migrants per day in the days leading to Title 42’s end, which put immense strain on capabilities.
Of the 10,000, there were at least 3,000 ‘gotaways,’ meaning migrants who escaped without being processed by border patrol.
Border agents told a group of senators visiting the Texas stretch of the border that it marked a 441 percent increase over the last two years under the Biden administration.
‘As I have said over and over again—under Secretary Mayorkas and President Biden’s reckless policies, we have no idea who is entering this country and being released into the U.S. interior,’ Green said Monday.
The chairman praised the ‘good work’ of Border Patrol agents, who arrested the individual before he was released into American communities.
However, he cautioned that ‘bad actors’ worldwide, including those on the terrorist watchlists, are ‘confident they will be able to enter the country illegally’ because of the Biden administration’s relaxed border policies.

Chairman Green called on the Senate to take up the ‘Secure the Border Act,’ which passed the House last week
‘It’s chilling to think how many more known or suspected terrorists are among those 1.4 million known gotaways who have evaded Border Patrol under President Biden,’ he continued.
It has been confirmed that since Biden took office in 2021, there have been 1.4 million known gotaways, which is a huge security threat for the country if there are more individuals who slipped through on the terrorist list.
The chairman called on the Senate to take up the ‘Secure the Border Act,’ which passed the House last week.
The House package would bring back a number of Trump-era immigration policies – including Remain in Mexico, which requires those claiming asylum to wait in Mexico while their U.S. asylum claim is processed.
President Biden has already promised to veto the legislation – although it has no chance of passing in the Democrat-led Senate.
Biden’s Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas has pushed back in recent days, reiterating that the border is closed and that there will be consequences for those who enter the U.S. illegally.
‘I want to be very clear, our borders are not open,’ he said at the White House Thursday.
