Italy: Long queues outside filling stations in Palermo ahead of gas stations strikes

Dozens of vehicles were seen in lines for petrol in Palermo on Monday ahead of gas stations strikes that will take place this week.

Cars and motorcycles could be seen arriving at filling stations to fill their gas tank before the strike’s departure, starting on Tuesday 24th, at 7 p.m. local time (18:00 GMT).

“All of this serves to agitate us. Today, I decided to fill up with petrol, so I won’t be left on foot for the next few days,” said a resident of Palermo.

According to the trade unions, the strike will occur because the government, instead of opening up to discussions on the real problems of the sector, continues to speak of ‘transparency’ and ‘shadow areas’ only to hide its responsibilities and pollute the debate.
