The westbound shoulder of I-285 from Mt. Vernon Highway to Riverside Drive will close starting Thursday, June 13, for three months.

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors need the closure to conduct construction work on the westbound auxiliary lane. To implement the closure, a single right lane of I-285 will be closed westbound from Mt. Vernon Highway to Riverside Drive on Thursday, June 13, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday, June 14.

The timing of the westbound shoulder’s closure depends on the weather.

The I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project extends the auxiliary lane between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive and reconstructs the Mt. Vernon Highway bridge over I-285.

The I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project is one of the I-285 Advanced Improvement Projects to create additional capacity to improve freight movement, provide operational improvements and efficiencies, enhance safety, and decrease travel times on the transportation network.
