A home invader was fatally shot early Wednesday by a woman with a Firearm Owner Identification card in the Austin neighborhood.
About 6:40 a.m., two people broke into a home in the 700 block of North Laramie Avenue when they encountered a 23-year-old woman, Chicago police said.
The home invaders then exchanged gunfire with the woman, and one of the intruders was shot in the chest, police said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
No other injuries were reported.
