This Fall, ELEVATE: 50 Years of Culture, takes over Atlanta as the annual visual and performing arts extravaganza marks five decades of cultural richness in the city.
This year, the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs is pulling out all the stops to honor the city’s cultural legacy with a series of events every weekend from Sept. 20 to Oct. 13.
While the full schedule is still being finalized, the opening night event has already been announced: A panel discussion entitled “How it All Began, a Conversation on 50 Years of Culture.”
This event will take place from 5 to 6 p.m.in the Hill Auditorium at the High Museum in Midtown, followed by Friday Jazz from 6 to 10 p.m.
The panel will feature a discussion led by Dr. Karcheik Sims-Alvarado between Mayor Shirley Franklin, Michael Lomax, and Rob Rivers. This conversation will explore the foundation of the Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs.
