Chris Martin to begin rehab assignment on Saturday

Red Sox right-hander Chris Martin, who was recently placed on the injured list with anxiety, has been feeling better and is expected to begin a rehab assignment on Saturday with the Worcester Red Sox.

“We’ll see how he feels,” manager Alex Cora said. “He’ll pitch and we’ll see how he feels, and we’ll go from there.”

Martin is eligible to come off the 15-day IL on Monday and could return as soon as that evening, when the Red Sox are set to open a three-game series against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Cora provided several other injury updates pregame Friday as well.
