Cambodia: Rescuers search for bodies in Poipet’s burnt casino as death toll rises to 27

Rescuers continue searching operations for the bodies of those killed in the massive fire at rand Diamond City Hotel and Casino in Poipe near the Thai border, as footage filmed on Friday shows.

The death toll has risen to at least 27 people, with more than 20 people still missing. Thai rescue teams reported that more bodies had been found trapped in the hotel rooms.

Dozens of rescuers and soldiers could be seen around the building while conducting search operations.

Around 400 staff and guests were inside the Hotel and Casino building when the blaze broke out.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and the Cambodian government has set up a committee to investigate. Search and rescue teams are working to find those missing.
