Brookhaven Porchest returns Saturday, Sept. 7, for the second celebration of good food, good tunes, and good times in the Drew Valley neighborhood.

Nine bands will perform on front porches or in driveways from 12-7 p.m. In addition, there will be live performances at Arnette’s on Friday and Saturday nights. Although the event is free, organizers are asking attendees to tip the bands.

Each band will perform for about an hour while Brookhaven residents walk around with wagons full of kids and coolers. It’s like a traveling pack of people, said Blake Beyer, who is hosting rock band The Trilby Brothers

Musicians range from Connelly Crowe, a folk singer who covers songs she loves and performs some of her own, to Forest and the Tree, a modern and classic rock band that originated from Boone, N.C.

Returning this year is Mark Ross and the Contraptions, made up of Mark Alden Ross on keys and lead vocal, Jeff Walker on bass, Pierce Tanner on drums, and Ken Green on guitar.

Damon Wiener is the vocalist of Room D2theA2theD, an 80s and 90s cover band. He and Andy Ford on bass are the “dads” who play with two Woodward Academy high school seniors, Joshua Wiener on guitar and Akhil John on drums. Brookhaven Porchfest is the band’s first full gig together, and Wiener said he hopes to build up a fan base this weekend.

“It’s fun to get up there in front of your neighbors or other people who wouldn’t normally seek us out,” said Wiener, noting the band will also perform at Oakhurst Porchfest in October.

Room D2theA2theD is performing at Brookhaven Porchfest.

Other Porchfest musicians include local bands Nate’s Basement, Climbing Cedars, Neon Lights, and Ghostwater.

Henri’s food truck and King of Pops will be out and about, and event t-shirts are going to be on sale. Organizers are asking for people to walk or ride share, because parking is limited.
