The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that two people on board one plane were found dead in the wreckage and the body of the man on the other plane was found at a different location in the wreckage. Mountain View Fire Rescue, which operates in the area, has confirmed three deaths. At the same time, the police have also closed some roads in the area.

According to news agency AP, the collision happened just before 9 am local time on Saturday. The identity of the victims has not been released at this time. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said in a statement posted on Twitter that it is investigating a collision between a Cessna 172 and Sonex Genos aircraft near Longmont, Colorado. Longmont is about 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of Denver.
